Teens charged over racist attacks

Two boys of the age of 15 and 16 were arrested after the vandalism and attacks on the homes of more than 100 Romanian migrants. They have been charged with provocative behavior. The 15 year old boy is also charged with intimidation. The attacks even forced a number of Romanian families to leave their homes and were housed in temporary accommodation. They are even thinking of leaving Northern Ireland. The two boys are due to appear in court on Monday morning.

I think it is awful that people are still discriminating other people. With the society we live in, people should be taught norms and values about what to do and what not to do to other people. Something I think the people should learn is not to discriminate other people and more important, that everyone is the same. I think everyone deserves a good life and if that means they should come and live in the land some people call their own, that should be possible. Their land is also a term I do not like. It is our land which in the first place did not even have borders. We created them.

Amy’s a tatts exile

Amy Winehouse, the British singer who has been staying on the Caribbean Island St Lucia to sort herself out, is moving to the island that is famous for its reggae and rum cocktails for good. Apparently, the Caribbean has done her good because she is writing more than ever now. The rum and reggae is not the only reason Amy wants to leave The UK and move to St Lucia. By moving to the Caribbean, she avoids paying a huge tax bill because the inhabitants of Great Britain who spend less than 183 days in the UK do not have to pay such a huge amount of tax than people who stay in The UK almost every day of the year.

I think a more relaxing lifestyle will do Amy Winehouse definitely some good. As we all know, Amy was not doing so well and was doing a lot of drugs and drinking, which is something you can expect with a name like that, which did not do her performing any good. I also have not heard from her in quite a while and I am looking forward to hear some new songs from her. By moving to St Lucia, she will be able to relax and work on her music and therefore we will be able to enjoy her music once again because whatever you might think of her, she sure can sing

Manchester United accept £80 million Ronaldo bid

Manchester United have accepted an offer of £80 million from Real Madrid for star player Christiano Ronaldo. No other football club has ever paid this much for a football player and therefore this offer is a world record offer. The decision to play for Real Madrid came from the man himself after expressing his desire to leave Manchester United. Together with Christiana Ronaldo, Manchester United has won the last three Premier League titles and in the 2007-2008 season he scored 42 goals, which topped the previous club record.

Some people say that some people are priceless but with the right amount of money you can buy everything, even star player Christiano Ronaldo. I do think it is ridiculous that even though we are in a recession, some football clubs are still willing to pay such a huge amount of money for a player while other people cannot even buy their groceries. I think that there should be a limit on the amount of money a football player may cost so that every club gets the chance of buying such a fantastic player.

Nursery worker appears in court

Venessa George, a 39 year old nursery worker from Plymouth, Devon has appeared in court charged with a series of sexual assaults on children. She faces three counts of sexual assault on a girl under the age of 13 and one count of sexual assault on a boy under the age of 13. She has also been charged for the making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children. The nursery where all these horrific actions took place is Little Ted’s nursery in Plymouth. The police are continuing to speak to staff and parents of children who used the nursery. The nursery is still closed for further investigations.

I think it is disgusting that someone who works with children and who children supposed to trust does something as horrible as this. Parents put their trust in someone and expect that person to take good care of their children but how guilty must they have felt when they found out that the woman sexually assaulted their children. I think that someone who did something like this should never be allowed to work with children again or even have them her own.

Serial Pedophile

A serial pedophile has been convicted guilty on the rape of at least three young children from the age of five upwards. The rape and abuse lasted for years and started in 1999. The men also forced the boys and girls to have sex with each other and he forced one of the girls to watch him have sex on an inflatable doll. It was not the first time that the men had been jailed. He also had been jailed for 15 months in 2002 after assaulting a six-year-old girl but he will not be able to repeat these horrific actions because this time he will be sent to prison for life.

In general I feel that everyone deserves a second chance. No matter what someone did, I am against the death penalty or a life time in jail because I think that people can better their life and that most of them will. This article makes me change my mind though. I think that if someone could rape innocent children and make them have sex with each other, they do not deserve to live. He stole away their childhood and any chance on a normal life by the horrific crime he committed so I do not think he deserves any chance on a normal life as well.

Jailed for life

Two men have been sent away to prison for about the rest of their lives after being convicted guilty for the murder of two French students. The men stabbed their victims to death after tying them up in a bedsit in New Cross on 29 June 2008. The two men denied the murder on the two students but they were convicted anyway and must serve a minimum of 40 and 35 years for the horrific murder. One of the perpetrators had been in prison before and even told a prison doctor he feared he “could kill” somebody in the future but the men got out anyway without the authorities knowing about his confession.

The prison doctor made a huge mistake by not telling anyone about the confession one of the offenders made. This mistakes cost two people their lives. But I still do not think that the doctor is to blame. I am convinced that everyone has ever said that they could kill someone but most of us do not act on these feelings and almost everyone of us does not even mean it so what could the doctor do. He could have told somebody but the men would have got out anyway so I do not think this horrific act was to avoid.

Old Bully

Old Bully

She might not look like it, with her two walking sticks, one in each hand, but the 98 year old Mary Plaisted is a real bully. She is the oldest person in Britain who had ever faced evicting from their home after terrorizing her neighbors. What she did was keeping residents in her block of council flats awake all night by banging on their doors and windows. The neighbors tried everything to keep the old woman away, the even put up a fence to stop the woman from coming at their doors and windows, but nothing helped. The only option the residents had was asking for the woman to be evicted.

Old people get lonely. I get that. When you become older, everyone around you dies eventually. Not a very nice feeling I think. You get more and more lonely and there is not much that you can do during the day and during the night. After so many years, television cannot interest you anymore so you start to do a came that only you enjoy. Bully your neighbors. I hope the woman had a good time doing that because I know for sure the neighbors did not like it very much.

Man convicted guilty of muder

Man convicted guilty of murder

A jury in Burmingham convicted a sadistic sex killer, who stabbed his on-off girlfriend and her sister to death, guilty of murder. It only took the jury three hours and twenty minutes to convict the suspect of murdering Yasmine and Sabrina Larbi-Cherif. Last September, the sisters were found at their blooded flat after relatives got worried because the girls had not been in touch. During a two week trial it came to light that the twenty-nine year old Ali used three knives to stab Yasmine twice and her sister thirty-five times. After that, the man was not done and had sex with the girls’ bodies.

Reaction

Where do people get the idea from that it is ok to just go ahead and kill somebody? I do not know where they get the idea from that they have the right to end somebody’s life. And if killing someone is not bad enough, the perpetrator even had sex with the bodies of the girls. I feel so sorry for the family. I would be so angry and overwhelmed with grief if something like this would happen to one of my sisters or one of my friends. I hope the men is going to be locked in prison for a long time so he can think about what he did and feels sick of remorse.

2012 Olympic stadium: 'work is on track'

2012 Olympic stadium: work is ‘on track’

One year ago, they began to built the Olympic stadium. Today, it is still on course to be finished on time and progress has been made. That is one thing you notice if you look at the pictures The Olympic Delivery Authority has released. The 80.000 capacity stadium has already got the majority of the steel “rakers” and half of the 12.000 concrete terracing units in place. Internal areas for the athletes to warm up are also starting to be fitted out. The stadium, which will cost around £ 547 million, will be reduced to a 25.000 seat stadium ones the games are over.

Does London need a new stadium? No, I do not think so. Does London have the money to built a new stadium? I certainly do not think so. Then, why are they building this £ 547 million costing concrete building? I do not have the answer to that question. I admit that I would find it flattering if the Olympic Games would be held in The Netherlands but I think it is ridiculous to spent such an extremely high amount of money on something that will only be used a couple of times.

Father describes devastation at Baby P's death

Father describes devastation at Baby P´s death

The father of Baby P described today how he tried so hard to be at his son´s bedside. Ones there, he found out he was too late and the boy was already dead. The hearing will be sentenced tomorrow when the two men and the baby´s mother are expected to be sent to prison for a long time. The real father of the boy heard about his son´s condition when his ex-wife and the mother of his child called and told him they were on the way to the hospital and that Baby P was experiencing breathing difficulties. He described in court how their marriage broke up when Peter was five months and the last time he looked after his son. At that moment, the little boy had been subjected to more than eight months of violent abuse at the hands of his stepfather.

Reaction

Some things are not meant to be understood by people who do not have any mental problems. This is one of them. You may wonder why on earth the men abused a baby but if you know the answer to this question, you should get in touch with a psychiatrist to do a check-up. The men definitely had some issues and had some huge mental problems but can you use that to make up for the fact that toy killed an innocent baby, one that was not even yours in the first place. I think a baby is like an unwritten canvas. They did not have the time to screw things up and they definitely do not deserve to die but I think you can all agree on that.

New cases of Swine Flu

New cases of Swine Flu

Eight new cases of Swine Flu have been confirmed in the United Kingdom. This brings the total number to 120, while 169 other possible cases are still under investigation. Two adults from London, two from the south east region, a child from the West Midlands and three people from Scotland were the latest confirmed cases of Swine Flu. The two adults from London take the total in the capital to 65. One of them had been in contact with a previously confirmed case. Globally more than 11.000 people have been diagnosed in 41 countries. There have been 85 deaths already.

Reaction

The Swine Flu is definitely not just Mexico´s problem. Every day, new cases of Swine Flu are confirmed and too many people have died because of this disease. Globally, more than 11.000 people have been diagnosed already in 41 countries and there have been already 85 deaths. But even though I see it on the news every day and I read it in the papers, I am not worried about my own health yet. This is mainly because I do not know much about the Swine Flu. I do not know when you know you have it and why it can kill you. Maybe if I knew more about it, I would be more worried about my own health.

Giving birth to a sextuplets

Giving birth to a sextuplets

A woman has given birth to six babies, four girls and two boys, at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital in Belfast. The babies were conceived naturally, without the aid of IVF, which is very special for a sextuplets. The delivery went very well with the help of thirty staff members even though the babies were 14 weeks premature. Because the babies were born too early, they are now in intensive care but the doctors are doing everything they can to get the babies strong and healthy so the parents can take them home.

Reaction

Admirable. That is the first word that comes to my mind. Words that come up next are exhausting, exciting, amazing and off course money. I do not think that the human being is created to raise six children of the same age at the same time and I think the parents are facing an extremely difficult time but I also admire the family to take the risk and just go for it. One good thing of having six babies of the same age is that you do not have to worry about diapers after a year and they will probably leave home around the same time.

Coleen: I'll lie back and think of England

Manchester United player Wayne Rooney and his wife Colleen are expecting their first baby but are not planning to gave birth the regular way. They are expecting their child on October 10 which caused a problem. That is also the day Wayne has to play for England in a key World Cup qualifier. Now the couple have decided to have a C-section at the end of September so that Wayne could watch his first child being born and be there for his wife and will still be able to play for the English team.

Reaction on article Coleen: I'll lie back and think of England

Who said that you can have it all? Well, this couple can and if the doctors would refuse to do the C-section, what would be a logical thing to do because there is no legitimate reason why Colleen could not give birth to their first child the regular way, the £30 million worth couple would pay the doctors an awful lot to make them do what they want. I do understand that you want to watch your wife giving birth to you first child and I think that is more important than a football match so get your priorities straight Wayne!

Lottery warning after fraud case

Lottery organisers have warned people who are competing in the lottery to keep their tickets safe and fill out their names and addresses on the back. This is a reaction on the incident of a couple who found a £30.000 winning ticket on the floor of their local supermarket. Instead of returning the ticket to its rightful owner, they cashed the prize and spent approximately half of the prize money before they were caught and sentenced for fraud. A court hearing in July will decide whether the rightful owner of the ticket, the 61 years old Ms McDonagh, will get the other half of the prize money.

Reaction on article Lottery warning after fraud case

Competing in a lottery is all about good luck. You do not have to blink out in anything, you just have to buy a ticket and hope it is your lucky day. For the couple Stacey from Swindon it was definitely their lucky day. They had not even bought a ticket but still managed to win £30.000. Of course you can not keep such a large amount of money if it is not yours to keep and you should return it to its owner but I think that if someone would offer me £30.000 that is not mine, I would not walk away either. I think I would take that chance, grab it with both hands, and go shopping. Just like the Stacey’s did.
